SMU’s Dunne Earns American Women’s Golf Player of the Week Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – SMU sophomore Brigitte Dunne was named the American Women's Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after posting a Top 3 finish at The Dickson.

Dunne posted the first Top 3 finish of her career and the first inside the Top 5 this season when she finished 6-under 210 (68-70-72) at The Dickson Feb. 27-28 in The Woodlands, Texas. She carded a 68 in the first round, which was her lowest round of the season as well as her third career round in the 60s. The sophomore came into the final day tied for third and shot even-par, including an eagle to open the round, while making four birdies on the final 18. Dunne had the third highest birdie total of the tournament, registering 15 of the Mustangs' 40, and helped SMU to a sixth-place finish in team standings.

East Carolina
• The Pirates finished sixth at the Hurricane Invitational Feb. 27 – Mar. 1 hosted by Miami…Freshman Dorthea Forbrigd recorded her fifth Top-15 placement of the season after tying for 13th.
• East Carolina returns to action Mar. 9-10 when they participate in the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C.

Houston
• Houston posted a 10th place finish at The Dickson with sophomore Leonie Harm leading the way…The Gerlingen, Germany, native shot a 74 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 18th.
• Houston next competes at the Mountain View Collegiate on March 10-12 in Tucson, Ariz.

USF
• Nicole Autrique posted her second consecutive Top 10 finish after tying for ninth in a field of 86 at the Hurricane Invitational on Feb. 27-Mar. 1…The Bulls bested No. 45 Iowa State during the three-day event.
• USF returns to the links Mar. 11 competing at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

SMU
• American Player of the Week Brigitte Dunne paced SMU during action at The Dickson…The Mustangs finished ahead of three ranked teams in the event.

• SMU returns to action Mar. 14-15 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kane'Ohe O'ahu, Hawai'i.

Tulane
• Senior Laura Munoz posted Tulane’s top individual finish for the second straight tournament during action at The Dickson in The Woodlands, Texas…Munoz made 39 pars and five birdies at the event…The Green Wave placed 13th overall as a team.
• Tulane will make the short trip to Baton Rouge, La., on Mar. 24-26 for the LSU Tiger Classic.

Tulsa
• Freshman Greta Bruner had her best finish of the season at The Dickson after finishing in fourth place with a 5-under 211 (70-71-70)…As a team, the Golden Hurricane finished 14th.

• Tulsa will be in action next at the BYU Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah, Mar. 13-14.
