HARTFORD, Conn. - UCF shot over 54 percent from the field and made 14 threes on route to an 84-54 win over Memphis in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship.
Matt Williams led the Knights with 19 points, including 5-for-7 shooting from three-point range. B.J. Taylor finished with 14 points and Nick Banyard and Tank Efianayi added 12 apiece.
After a Williams three tied the game at 10 early in the first quarter, UCF (21-10) made four consecutive three to take a 22-10 lead and never looked back leading by as much as 33.
Dedric Lawson led Memphis (19-13) with 12 points and his brother K.J. finished with 10. Jeremiah Martin chipped in 11 points for the Tigers.
UCF moves on to face SMU in the semifinals on Saturday with tip-off at 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
