Tulsa's Emily Watson and Tori Stafford earn weekly accolades


 
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for the week ending Sunday, March 12.
                           
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tori Stafford • So. • 1B Tulsa
Hit .778 in four games at the Tulsa Invitational, had two multi-hit games against No.23 California and Montana. Stafford also had two multi-RBI performances against Texas Tech and Wichita State. The sophomore hit a three-run home run to go ahead of Texas Tech 4-0. She also tallied a hit in five straight at-bats as well as  earning a 1.083 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Emily Watson • Jr. P Tulsa
 Watson tossed two complete game shutouts and struck out 9 against No.23 California. The junior threw nine innings against No.9 Oklahoma, allowing just one run in the 0-1 loss in extra innings. Watson pitched 23.1 innings and struck out 30 for the weekend with 12 against Texas Tech and 18 against Texas Tech.
 
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Cassady Brewer • So. • 1B/CUCF
Went 6-for-14, including six RBI’s, one homerun, and earned a .553 on-base percentage. Brewer also earned a .714 slugging percentage and .429 batting average.
 
Katie Koshes • Fr. • PUConn
Koshes picked up her first win of the season, with a complete-game one run effort against Grand Canyon. The freshman had 13 strikeouts to just three walks over the weekend and allowed just one run in 13 innings of work
 
Meredith Burroughs • Jr. • IF East Carolina
Recorded four hits, five runs scored, four RBI's and three home runs during the week, ending up with a .364 batting average, 1.182 slugging percentage and .534 on base mark.
 
Trystan Melancon • Fr. • P • Houston
Melancon had one complete game shutout, part of three total shutouts, 0.00 ERA, 14.0 IP, five hits, and 15 strike outs against Georgetown, Prairie View A&M, and Texas Southern collectively.

Shelby Miller • Sr. • P/UTL • Houston
The senior earned 538 batting average, .692 On-base percentage, five RBI’s, and had seven hits off of 13 at-bats in two sets of double headers against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern, as well as a single game against Georgetown
