UNCASVILLE, Conn. – No. 1 seed UConn picked up 105-57 win over No. 9 seeded Tulsa in quarterfinals action at the 2017 Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Championship.
Six Huskies were in double figures in the victory, led by 24 points from sophomore Napheesa Collier on 7-of-9 shooting and a perfect 9-of-9 outing from the charity stripe. Sophomore Katie Lou Samuelson added 19 points in the victory, while junior Gabby Williams tallied 17 points and dished out six assists.
The Huskies shot 64-percent (18-of-28) in the second half, leading by as much as 48 in the closing minutes. With the victory, UConn improved to 30-0 on the season and inked their third 100+ scoring game of the season. The 105 points scored by UConn today were the second highest single game total in the history of this event.
Junior Erika Wakefield had 15 points to lead the Hurricane. Tulsa had advanced to the quarterfinals following a win over No. 8 seed Memphis on Friday.
With the win, UConn advances to face fourth-seeded UCF in the first semifinal game Sunday at 5 p.m. on ESPN2/WatchESPN.
