PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the week of Feb. 27-March 5.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sterling Brown · Sr. · G · SMU · Maywood, Ill.
Brown collects player of the week honors for the second time this season after leading No. 14/19 SMU to a 2-0 week and an outright American Athletic Conference regular-season title. After a 19-point performance against Tulsa, Brown tallied 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds in SMU’s victory over Memphis. Brown is the only senior to collect player of the week accolades in The American this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jarron Cumberland · Fr. · G · Cincinnati · Wilmington, Ohio
For the third time this season, Cumberland earns rookie of the week honors. The freshman helped No. 18/20 Cincinnati wrap the regular season with a 16-2 mark in The American with wins over Houston and at UConn. Cumberland averaged 12.5 points over the two games, including 15 points off the bench to spark the Bearcats’ victory against the Huskies.

Gary Clark · Jr. · F · Cincinnati · Clayton, N.C.
Clark helped Cincinnati go 2-0 last week, averaging a double-double with 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In the Bearcats’ victory at UConn, Clark led Cincinnati with a game-high 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Cameron Reynolds · Jr. · G · Tulane · Pearland, Texas
The lefty guard averaged 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Tulane. In Sunday’s win against Tulsa, Reynolds tallied a career-best 31 points, knocking down seven three-pointers in the process.
Matt Williams · R-Sr. · G · UCF · Orlando, Fla.
Williams closed a historic regular season by scoring 20 points in UCF’s win at USF, lifting the Knights into the No. 4 seed for the American Championship. With three three-pointers, Williams ended the regular season with 104, an American record.
Semi Ojeleye · Jr. · F · SMU · Ottawa, Kan.
Ojeleye averaged 22.5 points while knocking down 14-of-15 field goals on the week to lead SMU to a 2-0 mark. Against Tulsa, Ojeleye was a perfect 9-for-9 from the field en route to 26 points.
Caleb White · Sr. · G · East Carolina · Buckingham, Va.
On his senior night, White exploded for a career-high 28 points to lead East Carolina past UConn. In knocking down a career-best seven three-pointers in the game, White became the second player in conference history to hit at least 200 in their career.
