The 2017 softball season will head into its fifth week with all seven American teams in action.
Houston handed No. 5/5 Texas A&M its first loss of the season behind a complete-game, 1-0 shutout from sophomore Savannah Heebner on Wednesday night at Aggie Softball Complex.
Alex Mycek has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the association Tuesday. As of Tuesday, Mycek ranks first in the American in slugging percentage (1.064), on base percentage (.547), home runs (9) and total bases (50). On a national scale, she is fourth in home runs, ninth in home runs per game (0.45) and slugging percentage and 14th in RBI (22).
UCF, Tulsa, and East Carolina are all set to take on ranked teams this upcoming weekend. The Knights will host No. 13/14 James Madison as well as No. 16 /17 Georgia at home. East Carolina will also face No. 13/14 James Madison later this week at the James Madison Tournament.
Tulsa is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Norman, Okla. for a matchup against No. 9/10 Oklahoma before hosting No. 23/19 California at the Tulsa Invitational.
