UConn Sweeps Weekly Baseball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending April 9.

Zac Susi • So. • C • UConn
Susi helped lead UConn to a three-game sweep over Memphis 7-for-13 (.538) against the Tigers. Susi had multiple hits in all four games the Huskies played in last week, including a three-hit, three RBI effort in Game 1 against the Tigers. He finished the week with six RBIs and two doubles as well as a .526 on base percentage.

Mason Feole • Fr. • LHP • UConn
Feole improved his record to 5-0 on the season with an eight inning shutout performance in Game 3 to complete the sweep over Memphis. Feole scattered four singles and did not issue a walk, while striking out five batters as the Huskies moved to 6-0 in conference play.
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL   
David Orndorff • Jr. • RHP • Cincinnati
Orndorff picked up a win and a save for the Bearcats last week. The junior led Cincinnati to a win against Tulane on Sunday (April 10), throwing six innings and only allowing one run against the Green Wave.
 
Joe Davis • So. • DH • Houston
Davis helped Houston to a sweep over East Carolina, belting a home run in all three games of the series. Davis drove in seven runs, including three in both Game 1 and Game 2 of the series with the Pirates.
 
Luke Borders • Sr. • DH • USF
Borders hit. 429 (6-for-14) in a weekend sweep over UCF. Borders scored a team-high five runs and had a double, triple and home run while driving in two runs for the Bulls. He also had a walk-off single in Game 1 against the Knights.
 
Joe Cavallaro • Jr. • RHP • USF
Cavallaro picked up his first save of the season for USF, throwing the final 3.1 innings of the Bulls 7-5 win over UCF on Sunday, only allowing one hit and striking out six. For the series Cavallaro threw 5.1 shutout innings while striking out 10 batters.
 
Grant Witherspoon • So. • OF • Tulane
Witherspoon led Tulane to series win over Cincinnati, hitting .444 (8-for-18) and driving in nine runs. Witherspoon also finished the week with four doubles, scored four runs and compiled a .500 on base percentage.
