Tulsa Varsity 4 Collects Boat of the Week



PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Tulsa varsity 4 earned the American Boat of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Competing at the Knecht Cup on Lake Mercer in West Windsor Township, N.J., the varsity 4 collected a silver medal on Sunday. Racing to a time of 7:44.40, the crew of Eva Trabucco, Skylar Luttjehuizen, Lauren Turner, Jasmine Leheta and Taylah Eder raced the varsity 4 to a time of 7:44.40, six seconds behind the Stanford Lightweight boat which took first place in a time of 7:38.32.  Tulsa finished ahead of North Carolina, Temple, Holy Cross and UMass in the race.  The Golden Hurricane finished first in their heat (7:42.08) and semifinal (7:50.56) to advance to the Grand Final.

Tulsa will return to action at the Lawless Cup, which will feature SMU, Alabama and Central Oklahoma, on Friday, April 21 at the White Rock Lake & Boathouse in Dallas, Texas.

American Rowing Notebook:
  • UConn
    • Recorded a third place finish in the third varsity 8 at the Knecht Cup.
    • The Huskies are back in action on April 14 at UMass and against Holy Cross on April 15.
  • UCF
    • Took third in all three races on the second day of the Lake Natoma Rowing Invitational.
    • The Knights return to action on April 22, heading to South Carolina for the two-day Clemson Invitational.
  • Sacramento State
    • Second varsity eight and varsity four both placed second, and the Hornets' varsity eight and third varsity eight placed third on the final day of the Lake Natoma Rowing Invitational.
    • The Hornets will host the WIRA Championships on Lake Natoma on April 29-30.
  • SMU
    • Advanced four boats to Sunday finals at the Knecht Cup.
    • SMU returns to action April 21-22 to host the Lawless Cup at White Rock Lake in Dallas.
  • Temple
    • Racing in the varsity 8 petite final, the Owls won the event in 6:47.02, topping SMU, North Carolina, Bucknell, Wisconsin and Fordham.
    • The Owls race at Drexel's Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River on April 15.
