UCF, Cincinnati, Houston and Tulsa Earn Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track and field honors for the week ending April 16.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Marc Scott • Sr. • Tulsa • North Yorkshire, England
Scott earned his first Male Track Athlete of the Week award this season after winning the Elite Invitational section of the 5000m race at the Mt. Sac Relays over the weekend. Scott’s time of 13:37.45 is the fastest time in the conference and the second fastest time in the NCAA this season.

Anne-Marie Blaney • Sr. • UCF • Ocala, Fla.
Blaney has been named Female Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this outdoor track and field season after her 5000m run at the Mt. Sac Relays. Blaney posted the top time in the American and fourth in the NCAA this season at 10:43.61 which beats her personal best by almost 24 seconds.

Macklin Tudor • Sr. • Cincinnati • Mount Orab, Ohio
Tudor won his third-straight Male Field Athlete of the Week award after winning both the discus and the shot  put at the All-Ohio Championships over the weekend. Tudor’s discus throw of 59.34 would be second in The American and his shot put (18.18m) would be third in the conference this season if he had not already posted better marks.

Tonye’cia Burks • Jr. • Houston • Longview, Texas
Burks won her second-straight Female Field Athlete of the Week award and third this season after winning the triple jump at the Mt. Sac Relays with a mark of 13.53m. Burks broke her own school record by nearly a full foot and is now sixth in the NCAA in the triple jump on the season.
