USF’s Flexsenhar Named American Men’s Golf Player of the Week



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – USF freshman Kyle Flexsenhar was named the American Men's Golf Player of the Week and earned the league’s final weekly honor of the season, the conference announced on Wednesday.
 
Flexsenhar finished with two straight under par rounds at the Wolfpack Spring Open hosted by NC State Apr. 14-15 at the Lonnie Pool Golf Course. The Florida native posted his best finish as a Bull and carded a 2-under 211 (72-69-70) in three rounds at the event. He set a new top 54 hole mark and led USF to a fourth-place finish in a field that included five ranked teams. The Bulls have four top-five finishes this season.

UCF
  • • UCF completed regular season play at the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue Apr. 15-16…The Knights tied for sixth and Juuso Kahlos led the way at 3-over 219.

  • • Austin Squires carded a 2-under 70 during the final round at the Boilermaker Invitational Apr. 15-16 and led all Bearcats at the tournament…Cincinnati earned their best finish of the event on Sunday with a 294.
  • • Cincinnati next travels to Palm Harbor, Florida, on Apr. 23-25 for the American Athletic Conference Championship.

UConn
  • • UConn won its second consecutive tournament title on Sunday after coming from behind to win the Veteran Golfers Association/UConn Collegiate Invitational…Eric Dietrich and Jimmy Hervol each tied for third with a 1-under 215.
  • • The Huskies next compete at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Apr. 23-25.

East Carolina
• Junior Tim Conover (221) was East Carolina’s top finisher at The Maxwell on Apr. 14-15 at the Oak Tree Golf and Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma…The Pirates finished 14th overall.
• East Carolina is back in action Apr. 23-25 at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Houston
  • • Zach Tracy (145) tied for sixth and led Houston to a second-place finish at the UT Longhorn Shootout in the Coogs’ regular-season finale…Houston played in a 6-count-5 format at the event.
  • • The Cougars begin postseason play atthe American Athletic Conference Championship Apr. 23-25 at the Innisbrook Golf Club’s Copperhead Course.
 
Memphis
  • • Memphis shot a season-low 285 in the final round of The Maxwell Apr. 14-15 hosted by Oklahoma…The Tigers placed 12th overall while Sydney Chung (218) led all Tigers at the event.
  • • Memphis returns to action Apr. 23-25 at the American Athletic Conference Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida.
 
USF
  • • American Player of the Week Kyle Flexsenhar (2-under 211) led the Bulls to a fourth-place finish at the Wolfpack Spring Open Apr. 14-15 in Raleigh, North Carolina…USF has placed in the top 10 in nine of 10 events this season.
  • • The Bulls will make the short trip to Palm Harbor, Florida, on Apr. 23-25 for the American Athletic Conference Championship.

  • • SMU wrapped up its regular season with a 13th place finish at The Maxwell Apr. 14-15 in Edmond, Oklahoma…Rookie Jackson Markham (221) paced the Mustangs at the event.

Temple
  • • Temple finished regular season action at the Wolfpack Spring Open, carding a 15th place finish overall… John Barone (221) led the Owls with a 1-over 72 in the final round of the event.
  • • Temple travels to Palm Harbor, Florida, for the American Athletic Conference Championship on Apr. 23-25.
