Orlando, Fla. – Top-seeded USF and No. 3 seed UCF each earned semifinal wins at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Championship on Saturday.
The Florida rivals will meet in the championship on Sunday, April 23, at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT, with live coverage on the American Digital Network.
No. 3 UCF 4, No. 2 Tulane 0
No. 3 seed UCF produced a 4-0 win over second-seeded Tulane in an afternoon match at the USTA National Campus.
The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead after wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots. Danny Kerznerman and Korey Lovett won 6-2 over the Green Wave’s Ewan Moore and Tyler Schick, while Chris Barrus and Kalman Boyd tallied a 6-0 victory over Luis Erlenbusch and Tim Ruetzel of Tulane.
UCF built a 3-0 lead after straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles by Korey Lovett and Harrison Richmond, respectively. The Knights clinched a trip to the American men’s championship match as Chris Barrus notched a straight-set victory at No. 5.

Top-seeded USF reached the American men’s tennis championship with a 5-0 victory over No. 5 Memphis in a semifinal match at the USTA National Campus.
The Bulls took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
Alberto Barroso-Campos extended USF’s lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles and was joined shortly thereafter by teammate Jakub Wojcik at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3. Needing one point to clinch the victory, Sasha Gozun at No. 1 and Peter Bertan at No. 4 finished simultaneously to create the final margin.
