OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – East Carolina senior pitcher Evan Kruczynski has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award in college baseball.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
In the classroom, Kruczynski boasts a 3.23 cumulative GPA in recreation and park management and is a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection.
Before this season, Kruczynski was named The American Pitcher of the Year and was chosen to two preseason All-America Teams (
Collegiate Baseball and
Perfect Game). Kruczynski recently returned from injury and has a 1-2 record with a 3.25 ERA. In his last outing, Kruczynski threw eight shutout innings, only allowing one hit in a win over Cincinnati.
Finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced in March. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the
Senior CLASS Award website through June 7. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. This year’s Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2017 College World Series® in June. For more information on all of the finalists, visit
