UCF’s Bai Tabbed American Men’s Golf Player of the Week



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – UCF freshman Bobby Bai was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week after leading his team to the 3M Augusta Invitational title, the league announced on Wednesday.
 
Bai paced the Knights during action at the 3M Augusta Invitational Apr. 1-2 in Augusta, Georgia. The rookie carded three rounds in the 60s (69-68-69) and finished 10-under 206, just one shot off individual medalist Dylan Meyer of Illinois. UCF won the event by four strokes (279-280-277: 836) and claimed the title for the second time in a field that included six ranked teams. The Knights also won the 3m Augusta championship in 2014.

UCF
    • Every Knight finished in the Top 35 at the 3m Augusta Invitational Apr. 1-2 at the Forest Hills Golf Club…American Player of the Week Bobby Bai paced UCF the entire weekend at the event.
    • The Knights return to action Apr. 15-16 at the Boilermaker Invitational.

Cincinnati
    • Austin Squires and Jared O’Kelley each tied for fourth at the rain-shortened Old Waverly Apr. 3-4 in West Point, Mississippi… The Bearcats finished six overall (290-283: 573) as a team.
    • Cincinnati next travels to West Lafayette, Indiana, for the Boilermaker Invitational on Apr. 15-16.

 UConn
    • Eric Dietrich shot a 2-under 70 on Monday and tied for the low round of the day leading UConn to the Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invitational title Apr. 2-3 in Hellertown, Pennsylvania…Dietrich (73-70: 143) finished in a three-way tie for first individually and notched his fifth Top 10 finish of the year.
    • The Huskies next host the Veteran Golfers Association/UConn Collegiate Invitational Apr. 14-15 at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Connecticut.

East Carolina
  • Junior Tim Conover (74-69-89: 222) was part of a three-way tie for first at the East Carolina Intercollegiate on Apr. 3-4…He recorded his fourth Top 5 of the year and led the Pirates to a runner-up finish in team standings.
  • East Carolina is back in action Apr. 14-15 at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
 
Houston
    • Michael Perras (70-66-73: 207) paced Houston at the 3M Augusta Invitational, the regular-season finale for the Cougars…He recorded his third Top 20 finish at the event…Houston finished seventh overall asateam.
    • The Cougars are back in action Apr. 23-25 at the American Athletic Conference Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida.
 
Memphis
    • Sydney Chung led the way for Memphis at the Old Waverly…He carded a 2-under 70 on the final day and was never above par during his round…The Tigers finished tied for 13th overall.
    • Memphis returns to action Apr. 14-15 at The Maxwell, hosted by Oklahoma.
 
USF
    • Claudio Correa and Jimmy Jones both tied for fourth at the Old Waverly as USF won the team title…All five Bulls finished in the Top 20 to help the team win its first event of the season.
    • The Bulls finish the regular season at the Wolfpack Spring Open Apr. 14-15 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
 
SMU
    • SMU recorded their third Top 10 finish of the season at The Goodwin on Mar. 30-Apr. 1 in Stanford, California…Gray Townsend (75-74-68: 217) climbed 24 spots on the leaderboard on the final day of action and led the Mustangs at the event.
    • SMU next plays at the Clemson Invitational on Apr. 7-9.
