Pirates Tie for Second at East Carolina Intercollegiate



West Virginia shot a three round total of 31-over-par 895 to capture the team title at the 2017 East Carolina Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 6,708 Brook Valley Country Club.
 
The Mountaineers carded an 8-over-par 296 Tuesday to finish four strokes ahead of host East Carolina (ECU and Western Kentucky, who tied for second-place at 35-over-par 899. Maryland placed fourth at 36-over-par (900) followed by Florida Gulf Coast in fifth at 40-over-par (904) among the 11-team field.
 
Florida Gulf Coast's Grant Renegar won a three-way playoff on the second hole to win medalist honors after finishing tied for first-place with ECU junior Tim Conover and West Virginia's Max Sear at 6-over-par 222.
 
East Carolina freshman Blake Taylor missed being a part of the playoff by one stroke as he finished tied for fourth-place at 7-over-par, posting his second top-5 finish of the year. Redshirt junior Jackson Spires recorded his fifth top-20 finish of the season as he tied for 17th at 11-over-par.
