PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for the week ending Sunday, April 30.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shelby Miller • Sr. • UTL • Houston
Miller went 9-of-15 with a .562 on-base percentage while hitting .600 and earning a 1.00 slugging percentage. The senior produced four multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games, and five runs against McNeese State and Memphis. She went 2-of-4 in game three against Memphis, with two RBIs and two runs, leading the Cougars to a series clinching victory.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Emily Watson • Jr. • P • Tulsa
Watson went 2-0 in the circle, allowing just two hits in 17.0 innings pitched over the weekend. The junior tossed her first career no-hitter and first for Tulsa since 2014 in 5.0 innings in a 12-0 (5) win over East Carolina in game one. Watson struck out 21 batters over the weekend, including 14 in 12.0 innings of work in game two and held opponents to a .040 batting average with one extra base hit. She now ranks second at Tulsa for most strikeouts in a single season with 296.
Weekly Honor Roll
Cassady Brewer • So. • C • UCF
Brewer hit .444, including two homeruns, six RBIs, one double and scored two runs against UConn. The sophomore notched a hit in each game and slugged 1.22.
Manami Calixto • Sr. • P • UCF
Calixto went 2-0 with a 0.72 ERA and two strikeouts in the series against UConn. The senior picked up a relief victory in game two of the series going four innings and fanning one.
Lindsay Crowdus • Sr. • OF • Memphis
Crowdus recorded hits in all but one game this week and finished with a team-high eight hits. She also stole four bases to add to her conference-leading total of 31. The senior finished the week with a .471 batting average with five RBIs and two drawn walks.
Hannah Harrell • Sr. • OF • Memphis
Harrell went 6-for-12, scored six runs, and had three straight multi-hit games against Alcorn State and Houston.
Tori Stafford • So. • IF • Tulsa
Stafford hit .500, scored three runs and slugged .875 while helping Tulsa to their fourth sweep of a conference opponent. The sophomore drove in a run in the top of the 12th inning to extend Tulsa’s lead to 3-1 in game two.
