American Women's Golf Teams, Individuals Complete Season at NCAA Regionals



The 2017 postseason came to a close for American women's golf teams and individuals on Wednesday as they completed NCAA Regionals.

Teams


UCF
The No. 25 Knights concluded the season with a 14th place finish in the Athens Regionals. Trailing the sixth place team by 15 strokes coming into Wednesday's final round, UCF was unable to make up ground and finished outside the top six teams advancing to the NCAA Championship Round. Competing in the NCAA Regionals for the fifth time in the last six years, the Knights scored a combined round of 310 on Wednesday for a total of 913 for the week.

Houston
Houston wrapped up its 2016-17 season by tying for 11th at the NCAA Columbus Regional on the historic Scarlet Course at Ohio State Golf Club. The Cougars posted a team total of 305 in Wednesday’s Final Round on the 6,416-yard, par-72 layout and finished with a 54-hole total of 928. Houston competed in the NCAA postseason for the third straight season, or every year in which the program has been eligible for NCAA Regional play.

SMU
SMU closed out the 2016-17 season at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional held at the UNM Championship Course. As a team, the Mustangs finished 13th in the 18-team field. Sophomore Brigitte Dunne led the Ponies, finishing 8-over 224 and tied for 27th place.  Dunne (75-74-75--224) climbed 10 spots on the individual leaderboard in the third round to secure her final placement, carding a 3-over 75. It was the highest finish for the Mustangs since the 2015 St. George Regional.

Individuals

Lisa Pettersson (East Carolina)
Junior Lisa Pettersson closed out the 2017 season at the NCAA Women's Golf Athens Regional Tuesday afternoon, which was being held at the par-72, 6.344-yard University of Georgia Golf Course. Pettersson, who is the fourth Pirate individual to participate in NCAA Regional play, carded a final round 7-over par 79 for a three-day tournament score of 227.


Michaela Fletcher (Memphis)
Memphis sophomore Michaela Fletcher finished her season with a Top 25 finish at the NCAA Columbus Regional, carding a third round 71 (-1) to finish tied for 22nd at 225. Among individuals not on a team entry advancing to the NCAA Championship round, Fletcher finished eighth. Fletcher closes her sophomore season with a 73.6 stroke average in 31 competition rounds. In 11 events this season, she posted eight top 20 finishes with three top five finishes.
