GREENVILLE, N.C. – The No. 1 seed Tulsa blanked No. 5 Memphis, 6-0 in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship Friday afternoon at the East Carolina Softball Complex. The Golden Hurricane advanced to the conference title game with the win and will face No. 2 Houston at Noon ET/ 11:00 a.m. CT live on ESPN.
The Golden Hurricane struck first with an bases loaded, RBI-double, in the third from Morgan Neal. Tulsa extended its lead to 6-0 with a sacrifice fly from Tori Stafford in the bottom of the third.
Tulsa (38-15) had two players with multi-hit games in Neal (2-for-3) and Maggie Withee (3-for-4). Tomorrow’s championship game marks Tulsa’s third straight appearance in the American Softball Championship final.
Memphis (29-27) had three players with at least one hit in Regan Hadley, Erin Parker, and Lindsey Stickrod.
In the circle, Emily Watson (27-4) picked up the win for Tulsa while Christian Novak fell to 9-13 with the loss for the Tigers. Watson had 11 strikeouts and gave up just three hits with no walks in the complete game win.
