
The American Athletic Conference Softball Championship begins this week, Wednesday, May 11th at East Carolina Softball Complex.

Tulsa (37-15, 15-3 American) clinched the No. 1 seed last weekend, as it claimed the conference regular-season title with a win over East Carolina. The Golden Hurricane will have a quarterfinal bye, and play in Friday’s semifinals against the winner of the No. 5-seeded Memphis and No. 4-seeded USF.

Houston (28-24, 12-6 American) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament, and will face No. 7 seed UConn (17-30, 3-14 American) on Wednesday in the quarterfinals. The game will be played at 3:30 p.m. ET 2:30 p.m. CT. During their regular season series, Houston produced three wins over UConn at the Cougar Softball Stadium.

Host East Carolina (25-29, 5-13 American) earned the No. 6 seed, and will open play against No. 3-seeded UCF (29-22, 11-7 American) in the quarterfinals at 1p.m. ET/Noon CT on Wednesday. The Knights took the three-game series against the Pirates, 2-1, in April.

The championship game is set for Noon ET/11 a.m. CT on Saturday and will be televised on ESPN.
