PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Eighteen student-athletes and three relay teams from seven schools earned a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 7-10.
Tulane led the way with five individuals punching their ticket to Eugene, Ore. For the men, Emmanuel Rotich qualified in the 5,000m and the 3,000m steeplechase, and Raymond Kibet earned a spot in the 400m. Jessica Duckett qualified for the women's 400m hurdles, Alyssa Applebee earned a spot in the pole vault and Daliadiz Ortiz will compete in the javelin.
Houston and Cincinnati each had four individuals and a relay team qualify for the NCAA meet. For the Cougars, Amere Lattin earned spots in the 400m hurdles and 110m hurdles, Jacarias Martin qualified for the 200m and two Cougars, Cameron Burrell and Mario Burke will race in the 100m dash. Houston also will bring the 4x100m men's relay team.
Cincinnati’s Adrian Valles will make his third NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships appearance in the pole vault and teammate Macklin Tudor will be competing in the discus. On the women’s side, Annette Echikunwoke and Loretta Blaut qualified for the shot put and the high jump respectively and the Bearcats 4x400m relay team also qualified for the national meet.
Memphis will send Ashley Pryke and Michael Criticos to compete in the women’s and men’s javelin.
Tulsa’s Marc Scott and will compete in the 5,000m and 10,000m and teammate Luke Traynor will join Scott in the 10,000m run.
Susan Aneno from UConn qualified to run in the women’s 800m and UCF’s 4x100m relay team also qualified.
