PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2017 American Athletic Conference Summer Kickoff and Media Days presented by NAPA Auto Parts generated over 950,000 impressions across the conference’s digital and social platforms, including the most-watched live event in conference history.
The American aired two live shows from Gurney’s Newport Resort and Spa on July 17-18, beginning with a one-hour live show at the conference’s New England-style clambake. The show, anchored by Hali Oughton and Andy Katz, helped generate the event’s most viewed tweet, as Katz’ interview with Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery garnered 46,679 impressions.
Tuesday’s live show with Oughton and Andy Gresh was the highest-viewed non-competition digital event in American Athletic Conference history, earning 50,546 views and reached in excess of 373,000 Facebook users. The live show featured on-set interviews with coaches and student-athletes, along with live coverage of coaches’ roundtables emceed by Verne Lundquist as well as Commissioner Mike Aresco’s opening remarks.
In total, The American’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts generated 564,333 impressions July 17-18, not including the two live shows. When factoring in those, over 950,000 impressions were generated.
The American Digital Network will announce its live fall event schedule in early August and will feature live championship competition and event coverage once again.
