American Athletic Conference Announces Staff Promotions

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced two staff promotions at the American Athletic Conference.

Patrick Colbert has been promoted to Senior Director of Sport Administration and Championships and Kauri Black has been named Assistant Director of Broadcast Scheduling.

“I am pleased to recognize Patrick and Kauri for their exemplary service to our Conference and its institutions,” said Aresco. “Patrick has been a valuable member of our championships group and a key factor in the high quality of our championship events. We are excited that Kauri will continue working at The American after serving so well for two years as our Administrative Fellow. I look forward to the contributions that both of these outstanding executives will make as we continue to build The American’s stature and brand.

Colbert has been at The American since 2012. He is the primary sport administrator for cross country, swimming and diving, tennis, rowing and softball and serves as the secondary administrator for men’s soccer and baseball and assistant manager for the men’s basketball championship. His duties include oversight and management of all postseason tournament operations, including officiating, merchandising, ticket sales and facility negotiations. He also oversees the Conference’s academic awards program and assists in the construction and management of the Olympic sports budget.

Black joined the Conference office as the Administrative Fellow in July 2015. In his current role, he is involved in all aspects of The American’s television and multimedia operations, including coordination of schedules and analysis of ratings data.
