Highlights
 
- G.J. Reyna opened the 2017 season in dramatic fashion, coming from behind in the final loop to win the individual championship at the Norry Hersey Rice Invitational, as the Houston Cougar Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams took second and third, respectively, on Friday. The women led by Ebony White (12th) and  Meredith Sorensen (13th) who finished within a second of each other at 14:38.20 and 14:38.96, respectively.
 
- Tulane delivered a dominant performance in the team's second meet of the season on Saturday morning at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic at Lafreniere Park. The men's and women's team each recorded first-place overall team finishes, as senior Moses Aloiloi won the men's 5k, while redshirt sophomore Mckenzi Melius, sophomore Sarah Cella freshman Rachel Maue and sophomore Mary Catherine Stovall finished second, third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, to the lead the Green Wave women.
 
- UConn's Patrick Begley won his first individual cross country title (18:57) on Saturday as the Huskies also won the team crown at the Minuteman Invitational. The event was the opener for the UConn men's cross country team for the fall. The UConn women’s cross country team took first place at the UMass Minuteman Cross Courtney Invitational. The Huskies grabbed 25 points with Kelsey Swanson, Courtney Akerley and Haley Hasty finished fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
- Hannah Markel had another strong race and Meg Westerheide posted her fastest 5,000m time to help the University of Cincinnati women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the inaugural John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday morning.
