Sutton, Brewer, Oliver, Boumerhi Are Week 2 Players of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for Week 2 of the college football season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Courtland Sutton • Jr. • WR • SMU • Brenham, Texas

Sutton set an American Athletic Conference record with four touchdown receptions in SMU’s 54-32 win against North Texas. He finished the game with eight catches for 163 yards, helping the Mustangs improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2009.

D’Angelo Brewer • Sr. • RB • Tulsa • Tulsa, Okla.
Brewer rushed for a career-high 262 yards — the most by an NCAA FBS player this season — and three touchdowns on 38 carries to lead Tulsa to a 66-42 win against Louisiana. Brewer’s total ranks second on The American’s single-game chart.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ed Oliver • So. • DT • Houston • Houston, Texas

Oliver had a game-high 11 tackles to go with 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in a 19-16 win at Arizona. He led a Cougar defense that held Arizona to 152 rushing yards.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aaron Boumerhi • So. • K • Temple • Philipsburg, Pa.

Boumerhi scored six points, including the game-winning 49-yard field goal with one minute left, in a 16-13 win against Villanova. He also added a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter.
