American Athletic Conference Announces Weekly Women's Soccer Honors

ECU recorded a 3-0 shutout and its first tie against a nationally ranked opponent since 2011



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 17.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Courtney Cash * Jr.* F * ECU
Cash scored two goals in ECU’s 3-0 win over in-state rival UNC Wilmington, including the game-winning goal. She equalized the score against Virginia 5/9 at the 84th minute mark in Sunday’s 1-1 double-overtime draw. Cash leads the Pirates in goals and points.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kim Sanford * Fr. * D * ECU
Sanford played all 200 minutes on defense throughout the week to help the Pirates to a 1-1 draw against Virginia 5/9 and 3-0 shutout over UNC Wilmington.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Michelle Newhouse * Gr. * ECU
Newhouse played all 200 minutes in goal with a 1-0-1 record allowing just one goal for a 0.45 goals-against average. She made 11 saves on the week, including a career-high eight saves against Virginia 5/9 Sunday. The 3-0 win over UNC Wilmington was her fourth shutout of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Addyson Guthrie * Fr. * F * Tulsa
Guthrie scored the first goal for Tulsa at Missouri State on a free ball in the box. She played all 108 minutes against Missouri State and 96 minutes against Oral Roberts, helping the Golden Hurricane go 1-0-1 on the weekend. The 3-2 overtime win vs. Missouri State Sunday clinched head coach Kyle Cussen’s 200th career win.
 
Honor Roll
Vivien Beil * Fr. * F/M * UConn
Beil scored twice over the weekend for UConn. Once in the Huskies 2-3 loss against Long Beach State Thursday night and again in its 1-1 double-overtime draw vs. Colorado College Sunday.
 
Hannah Dauzat * Sr. * M * Houston
Dauzat posted back-to-back goals against New Mexico State in a 3-1 win over the Aggies Sunday to close out non-conference play. The goals made were her fourth and fifth of the season, ninth and 10th of her career.
 
Selena Peters * Sr. * M * Houston
Peters had two goals, one in a 1-3 loss to New Mexico and another in a 3-2 win over New Mexico State. She is the seventh all-time leader in goals scored at Houston, with 13 for her career.
 
Vanessa Valadez * RS-Jr. * F * SMU
Valadez made two goals and dished four assists over the weekend. She scored the game-winner in the Mustang’s 1-0 win over Big12 foe TCU and scored SMU’s only goal in its loss against Baylor.
 
Morgan Basileo * So. * GK * Temple
Basileo did not give up a goal the entire weekend in matches vs. Towson (T, 0-0) and Delaware State (8-0). She made five saves against Towson and is 3-0-1 in her first four starts boasting a 0.27 in goals-against average.
