Abey Paces Navy As Mids Cruise Past FAU, 42-19

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Navy quarterback Zach Abey set an American Athletic Conference record with 235 rushing yards to go with two rushing touchdowns and a TD pass as the Midshipmen cruised to a 42-19 win against Florida Atlantic in a game that featured three lightning delays at FAU Stadium.

Abey's 235 rushing yards are the most by an American Athletic Conference quarterback in the five-year history of the conference, surpassing the 210-yard performance by USF's Quinton Flowers against Memphis last season. Abey's total ranks fourth among all players on The American's single-game chart.

Navy held a 416-40 advantage in rushing yards, a 526-326 edge in total yards.

Running back Joshua Walker rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries for the Midshipmen. Fullback Chris High ran for 61 yards on 16 carries.

Running back Darryl Bonner caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Abey, who was 3-for-10 for 110 yards on the day. Abey finished with 335 yards of total offense.

The Midshipmen begin conference play next Saturday against Tulane in Annapolis, Maryland. Navy has gone a combined 14-2 in American Athletic Conference regular-season games since joining the league in 2015.
