Sirk, Nichols, Nadelman Earn Weekly Football Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for Week 4 of the college football season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Thomas Sirk • Sr. • QB • ECU • Glen St. Mary, Fla.

Sirk completed 30 of 39 passes for a career-high 426 yards and three touchdowns to lead ECU to a 41-38 win at UConn in the Pirates’ conference opener. Sirk completed his first 11 passes of the game, had 15 of his completions go for 10 yards or more and led ECU to 596 yards of total offense.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Deatrick Nichols • Sr. • CB • USF • Miami, Fla.

Nichols had a hand in three turnovers to lead USF to a 43-7 win against Temple, the Bulls’ ninth straight victory. Nichols had two interceptions, a fumble recovery and two pass breakups to lead a defense that limited Temple to 85 offensive yards and seven first downs as USF registered six takeaways.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emilio Nadelman • Sr. • K • USF • Miami, Fla.

Nadelman set an American Athletic Conference single-game record for points scored by a kicker as he hit five field goals and four extra points for 19 points in the Bulls’ 43-7 win against Temple. Nadelman hit field goals of 44, 28, 25, 37 and 44 yards and is one of two kickers nationally with five field goals in a game this season.

Completed 18 of 30 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown and had a game-high 94 rushing yards in a 38-10 win at Maryland.
 
Bryant Shirreffs • Sr. • QB • UConn • Jefferson, Ga.
Completed 24 of 39 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-38 loss to ECU.
 
Zach Abey • Jr. • QB • Navy • Pasadena, Md.
Rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns and completed 2 of 3 passes for 53 yards and a TD in a 42-32 win against Cincinnati.
 
Davon Grayson • Sr. • WR • ECU • Suffolk, Va.
Had career highs with 11 catches, 223 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in a 41-38 win at UConn.
 
James Proche • So. • WR • SMU • Dallas, Texas
Had three receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-21 win against Arkansas State.
 
Jonathan Banks • Jr. • QB • Tulane • Humble, Texas
Threw for 103 yards and rushed for 40 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a 21-17 win against Army. Converted three fourth downs on the 19-play game-winning drive in the final minutes.
