American Athletic Conference Announces Weekly Women's Soccer Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday Sept. 24.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Kayla Adamek * Sr. * F * UCF
Adamek netted a pair of goals in 49 minutes of action in UCF’s 4-0 win over ECU. She tallied four points in the match, doubling her season total. The Knights finished opening week of league action unbeaten at 1-0-1.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kiki Lowell * Fr. * D * Cincinnati
Lowell played 187 of 200 minutes and marked top scoring threats in both matches to anchor the Cincinnati defense to its 0-0 double-overtime draw vs. No. 14 UCF and 1-0 win over USF, to open American Athletic Conference play. The Bearcats have recorded six shutouts, while allowing just five goals this season, the second fewest in program history through 10 matches.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Rachel Ashworth Shepard * RS-Jr. * Memphis
Ashworth Shepard led Memphis to a 1-0-1 undefeated record this weekend, first tying  SMU in double-overtime, then defeating Houston 2-1, while playing in a total of 190:40 minutes. She finished with a career high 14 saves against SMU (16 total saves) and ended the weekend with a .842 save percentage.
 
Rookie of the Week
Dina Orschmann * Fr. * F * UCF
Orschmann tallied a pair of goals and an assist on goal in UCF’s 4-0 win over ECU. Her two markers were a career-best in a game and she finished with five points in the win. Orschmann leads the Knights in goals (4) and points (10).
 
Honor Roll
Madison Less * Fr. * GK * Cincinnati
Less recorded back-to-back shutouts vs. UCF and USF to open league play. She had a career-high seven saves vs. UCF (11 total saves) and has not been scored on in the last 246:23, while holding a 0.47 goals-against-average.
 
Karli Royer * Fr. * D * Cincinnati
Royer scored the first collegiate goal off a corner kick with 2:22 remaining to give Cincinnati a 1-0 win over USF. She played in 129 of 200 minutes to help the Bearcats earn two shutouts and finish 1-0-1 on the week.
 
Mikayla Morton * So. * F * Memphis
Morton scored the game-tying goal against Houston on Sunday to help ignite Memphis to its first conference win of the season, while registering two assists in the double-overtime draw vs. SMU. She now has six goals for the Tigers.
 
Kat Elliott * Sr. * GK * USF
Elliott reached a season high, and tied her career high in saves with eight (10 total) on Sunday afternoon against Cincinnati. She helped keep the game scoreless for 88 minutes.
 
Rachel-Thun Blankenship * Sr. * F * Tulsa
Thun-Blankenship had one game-winning goal and an assist vs. SMU and one assist in the Houston match for a total of four points on the week to open conference play for the Golden Hurricane.
