Highlights

Numerous school and personal records were set throughout the weekend, as The American indoor track and field programs had nine women and seven men’s teams in action. Four programs took a trip to the Vanderbilt Invitational.

- Cincinnati competed at the Notre Dame Invitational Saturday in South Bend, Ind., with Bearcats athletes recording two school records, eight total marks that rank in the program's all-time Top 10 and won five individual events at the meet held inside the Loftus Sports Center. Among the marks achieved was Adrian Valles' pole vault clearance of 5.61m (18-04.75), a mark that eclipsed his own school record by 1cm, and sent him into the national lead.

Sam Meece also got into the record act Saturday as he posted another big series of throws in the men's weight throw to better the UC freshman record that he took down last week. After throwing 18.08m last week in Kentucky to smash the rookie mark and moved into the program's all-time Top 10, he bettered that mark Saturday with a best of 18.54m (60-10.00) to move up to No. 4  all-time in program history as only the fourth individual to record a toss of 60 meters or better. Meece, who placed second overall in the event, added a PR in the shot put as well as he hit a toss of 15.82m (5-11.00) to finish fourth in the competition.

- ECU enjoyed great success in Virginia this weekend, taking part in the Keydet Invitational on the campus of the Virginia Military Institute. The women won the meet in landslide fashion, topping the 17-team field, while the men placed third out of 16 competing squads during the two-day event.

Senior Galissia Cause set a school record in the indoor shot put for the second-straight weekend, recording a toss of 16.01 meters to top her previous mark of 15.68. She was one of six event wins for the Pirates in the meet.

- Houston traveled out of the Lone Star State for the first time on the season and won six individual events at the Mark Colligan Memorial, on Saturday, in Lincoln, Neb. Elijah Hall again led the way for the Cougars, running the nation’s second-fastest time in the 200-meter dash. Hall, already the NCAA’s leader in the 60-meter dash, ran 20.76, finished just five-hundredths of a second off his school-record mark to take the gold.

Samiyah Samuels gave Houston its first win of the afternoon, taking the gold in the women’s long jump. Samuels qualified for the finals with the best jump of the first three rounds at 19-5.5 (5.93m) to take the lead heading into the final three jumps. Brianna Bethel won the 60 and 200-meter dashes, running for the eighth-fastest time in the nation (23.78).

- Cera Chavez and the Tigers men's 4x400 meter relay set school records to pace the Memphis’ effort at the 2018 Vanderbilt Invitational this weekend. Chavez placed fourth in the women's 200 meters in a school-record time of 24.08. The men's 4x400 meter relay of Davon DeMoss, Ryan Champlin, Sir Netwon Lee and Jarred Pasley wrapped up Saturday's action with a fourth-place finish in the event with a time of 3:10.53. The relay team's time shattered the previous school record by nearly 2.5 seconds.

- USF had four athletes set new personal bests on day two of the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. Chelsea Francis won the fast section of the women's 200 meters, coming in with a time of 24.51. Jada Massie  moves into the top 10 of the 200 meters with her time of 24.97. She now sits in 10th on the chart. Kaitlyn Gill's second place finish in the long jump improved her personal best mark. She finished with a distance of 19-2.00, good for second place in the event. Zach Diaczynsky finished fifth in the men's shot put with a mark of 50-9.75. The effort improves his personal best, which was previously 50-7.50.

- Rebekah Markel set a new personal record in the women's pole vault and junior Emmanuel Rotich won the men's 3000m run to cap off Tulane track & field's successful weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville. The Green Wave followed up their strong Day One performance with numerous Top 10 finishes and more personal records. Rotich ran the indoor 3000m run for the first time in his career and delivered a race-winning time of 8:03.17.

- Multiple Shocker athletes set personal records, including redshirt freshman Kendra Henry in three events of the pentathlon. Day one of the Air Force Combined Events Meet concluded with the finish of the women's pentathlon and the men's 60m, long jump, shot put and high jump portion of the heptathlon. The Shockers entered eight athletes in the multi-event competition, including seven who finished the day with a personal record.

Ben Johnson set a personal best in all three events of Day two at the Air Force Combined Events Meet to win the heptathlon with a score of 5,615. Denvoir Griffin was the highlight of the night breaking a 15-year old 60m school record winning the finals with a time of 6.76. Wichita State's men's team finished first with 134 points and the women's team took second with 118.5 points at the Air Force Challenge on Friday.

- Led by sophomore Chelsea Francis' win the 60m dash finals, SMU Track and Field wrapped up the Texas Tech Raider Invitational on Friday with top finishes from team sprinters.

Hannah Miller set a new personal record and broke the existing SMU record in the 3000m at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday.

- The UConn women competed at the Vanderbilt Invitational, as Friday’s competition was highlighted by five top-10 finishes, including two in the women’s 5000m race. Divine Oladipo headlined the Huskies top performances on day two of the meet. Brianna O’Brien crossed the finish line in 17:02.80 to claim third place. On Saturday, Oladipo claimed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 15.74m (51’ 8”).
