PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the week of Jan. 1-7.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jacob Evans III · Sr. · G/F · Cincinnati · Baton Rouge, La.
Evans led No. 19 Cincinnati to a 2-0 week in American play, averaging 16.0 points per game in victories at Temple and versus a SMU team receiving votes in both polls. At Temple, Evans hit the game-winning jumper with 0.4 to play, capping a late Bearcat rally. Against SMU, Evans tied for game-high honors with 18 points. The accolade is the second of the season for Evans.

Ceasar DeJesus · R-Fr. · G · UCF · Jersey City, N.J.
For the second consecutive week, DeJesus earns rookie of the week accolades after helping UCF go 2-0 in conference play. DeJesus opened the week with a 14-point effort in the Knights’ win over Memphis before scoring 13 against Temple. DeJesus helped lead UCF’s defense on the perimeter, as the Knights allow just 47.5 ppg in conference games.

Adams averaged 23.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week for the Huskies. At Tulsa, Adams finished one assist shy of a double-double, posting 29 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and nine assists.
Corey Henderson, Jr. · Sr. · G · Tulsa · Dallas
Henderson, Jr.’s career-high 30 points helped Tulsa knock off UConn, 90-88, in double overtime. The senior’s eight three-pointers were part of Tulsa’s American record 17 triples. On the week, Henderson finished 11-of-24 from three-point range.

Martin led the Tigers to its first conference win, posting a career-high 28 points to go along with eight assists in a 76-67 victory over Tulsa. During the game-changing 18-3 run, Martin accounted for 17 of the Tigers’ 18 points.
Shaquille Morris · R-Sr. · G · Wichita State · Edmond, Okla.
In a 2-0 week for No. 9 Wichita State, Morris went 12-of-17 from the floor, averaging 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds. The Shockers two home wins came by an average margin of 28 points.
Cameron Reynolds · R-Sr. · G · Tulane · Pearland, Texas
Reynolds scored 16 of his team-high 20 points in the second half, spurring Tulane’s comeback win over SMU. The Green Wave’s 11 wins this season are already five more than last season’s total.
