UCF, USF & Temple Earn Week 7 Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference women's soccer week seven schedule featured week two of league play and several strong individual performances. Temple took home two top awards including Gabriela Johnson's second-consecutive Rookie of the Week honor while UCF and USF picked up the top offensive and defensive accolades, respectively.

Offensive Player of the Week
Stefanie Sanders * So. * F * UCF

Sanders netted her second hat trick in her last three games in a 5-3 win over UConn which capped a 2-0 week for the Knights. The sophomore recorded at least a point in both UCF's opening American Athletic Conference games as the Knights start league play 2-0 for the first time since 2014. Sanders scored the game-winner in the win over the Huskies.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kelli Burney * R-Jr. * D * USF

Burney led the Bulls back line to a shutout victory at UConn in USF's conference opener. She was also a focal point of the defensive effort at Temple that did not allow a shot for 73 minutes of play. Burney also helped limit UConn to just five shots in the match.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Morgan Basileo * Jr. * Temple

Basileo came up huge for the Owls in their biggest win of the season as she shut out No. 19/16 USF with six saves against the Bulls. It was her fifth clean sheet of the season. USF had previously outscored its opponents, 27-5. On the week she finished with 11 stops.

Rookie of the Week
Gabriela Johnson * Fr. * F * Temple

Johnson earns her second-straight rookie award as she scored in each game the Owls played including the gamewinner in double overtime against No. 19/16 USF. The golden goal gave Temple its first win against a nationally-ranked team in program history. The score came in the 105th minute and was done all by Johnson, unassisted.

Scored the equalizer against Houston with just two seconds left in regulation
