PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference women’s soccer week nine saw strong performances from both UCF and RV/No. 24 USF. Both teams upset No. 15/18 Memphis and capped 2-0 weeks with wins over Tulsa.

Sanders netted both gamewinners for UCF in a 2-0 week that saw the Knights down No. 15/18 Memphis, 2-0, and Tulsa, 3-1. Sanders continues her offensive tear as of late with four points last week as UCF has won six of its last seven games.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kelli Burney * RS-Jr. * D * USF
Redshirt junior Kelli Burney was a force in USF’s 2-0 week as she helped limit Tulsa to just seven shots in the entire match,. Also in that match, Burney scored a header off a corner to give the Bulls an early lead. Burney helped also USF to its fifth shutout of the season against No. 15/18 Memphis as USF took down the number two ranked team in scoring offense without allowing them a single goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Sydney Martinez * Fr. * USF
Martinez set a new career high when she went into double-digit saves (10) against No 15/18 Memphis to blank the second-ranked scoring offensive in the country. The rookie went 2-0 on the week and finished with 12 total stops as she was also victorious against Tulsa.
Rookie of the Week
Piper Dotsikas * Fr. * F * UCF
Dotsikas played valuable minutes for the Knights in a 2-0 week that featured an upset of No. 15/18 Memphis, 2-0. The freshman also got in on the scoring in a 3-1 over Tulsa. Dotsikas netted a goal against the Golden Hurricane to help secure the win.
