Midweek Pow6r Points: Henderson, Oliver Top Midseason All-America Teams

Memphis' Henderson, Houston's Oliver Named To Midseason All-America Teams
At the midpoint of the 2018 college football season, two American Athletic Conference players have been singled out as Midseason All-America selections by leading media entities. Memphis running back Darrell Henderson, the nation's leading rusher with 1,133 yards and 13 touchdowns, joins Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who has 11.5 tackles for loss and nine quarterback hurries, as The American's candidates. Both players were chosen to the Associated Press, Sporting News, ESPN, Sports Illustrated and The Athletic Midseason All-America teams.

Play On!
Three American Athletic Conference teams have already secured their places in the 2018 postseason as No. 10/9 UCF, No. 20/21 Cincinnati and No. 21/20 USF have all clinched bowl eligibility by getting to six wins. The American, which remains the only FBS conference with three unbeaten teams, has as many bowl-eligible teams as the combined total of the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12.

UCF-Memphis Rematch Produces Another Big Audience
Last year's American Athletic Conference Championship between UCF and Memphis was among the most-viewed games of Championship Saturday last season, with a total live audience of nearly 3.5 million viewers. This year's regular-season rematch between The American's divisional favorites was part of another sizeable audience on ABC and ESPN2. The game was regionalized with the Washington-Oregon matchup in a window that delivered a total live audience of 3.3 million viewers.

Road Sweet Road
Last week's American Athletic Conference results produced an unusual set of results in that all four visiting teams won their respective games. USF started the week with a 25-24 come-from-behind win at Tulsa Friday, while UCF got Saturday started with a one-point comeback win of its own as the Knights topped Memphis 31-30. Temple overcame a second-half deficit to win at Navy 24-17, while Houston was a 42-20 winner at ECU. Home field still produces an advantage in conference play, however, as American Athletic Conference teams have gone 10-6 in their friendly confines.

Close Calls
With 16 American Athletic Conference games in the books, the conference has produced a remarkable number of close games in 2018. Four of the 16 league games have been decided by one point, including the wins by UCF and USF last week. By comparison, the entire 2017 season produced only two one-point games, while there was one each in 2015 and 2016.

Busy Saturday In The American
All 12 American Athletic Conference teams will be in action on a busy Saturday that includes five conference games and a pair of nonleague matchups against SEC opponents. Cincinnati and Temple meet at noon ET (ESPNU) in an East Division game that will leave the winner unbeaten in conference play. Houston tries to keep a perfect conference record intact as the Cougars visit Navy in a West Division matchup (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network). SMU visits Tulane at 3:30 ET for a West Division contest that will leave the winner no lower than second place in the standings (CBS Sports Network). Two of The American's unbeaten teams play East Division games at 7 p.m. ET as UCF visits ECU (ESPN2) and USF hosts UConn (CBS Sports Network). The two nonconference games have Tulsa at Arkansas at noon ET and Memphis at Missouri at 4 p.m. ET. Both of those games will be on the SEC Network.
