WEEKLY RELEASE
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With just two weeks left in the regular season, the American Athletic Conference women’s soccer teams seem to be peaking at the right time. For the first week this season, The American boasts three nationally-ranked teams. While the league has had up to four squads receiving votes in the polls, week nine marks the first time that three teams are in the top-25
The No. 20/17 USF Bulls now on a four-game winning streak and are tied atop the standings thanks to another 2-0 week. Junior Evelyne Viens scored twice in last week’s top-25 battle against then-No. 15/18 Memphis to total 43 career goals, the most in USF program history.
UCF re-enters the national rankings at No. 24 in the United Coaches poll as the Knights improved to 6-1-1 on the road with wins over Memphis and Tulsa to tie USF for No. 1 in the standings with 12 points
Memphis also stays in the TopDrawerSoccer poll at No. 22. The Tigers still rank sixth nationally in shutout percentage (.667) and fifth in shots per game at 20.13. Memphis has two road games this week at UConn and Temple before wrapping the season against Tulsa.
Just two weeks remain in the regular season with all 12 teams alive for the postseason tournament.
