Tulsa & USF Take Home Golf Player of the Month Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced its Golf Players of the Month Awards for September 2018. Tulsa freshman Lorena Tseng takes home the women’s honor while USF junior Ryoto Furuya earns the men’s accolade
 
Women’s Golf Player of the Month

Tseng mad a strong first impression in her debut events on the collegiate golf course. She led Tulsa to a team victory in her first tournament at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic and followed it up with a second-place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational. At Hobble Creek Golf Course she carded a 3-over 216 (72-76-68) to take fourth overall in a field of 73 golfers. She improved in her second outing at the Furman University Golf Course as she finished second against 89 other performances with a 7-under 209 (68-73-68).
 
Men’s Golf Player of the Month
Ryoto Furuya * Jr. * USF

It was also an American Athletic Conference debut for Furuya as the transfer from Iowa made two top-five finishes in his first season with USF. He started with a fifth-place finish as the Louisville Cardinal Challenge with a 6-under 207 (26-68-70) to best 87 other golfer and help the Bulls to a fourth-place finish. He followed his debut with a fourth-place performance at the Windon Memorial Classic with a 5-under 211 (70-70-71). Furuya boasts a 69.7 scoring average and shot par or better in all six rounds.
