Midweek Pow6r Points: Houston's Robinson Earns National Honors

Two From The American Among The Five Remaining Unbeatens
The list of unbeaten teams in college football has been reduced to five in number after an eventful weekend. But The American stands the only conference with more than one unbeaten team as UCF and USF both stand at 7-0. The other FBS unbeatens are Alabama (8-0), Clemson (7-0) and Notre Dame (7-0).

Houston’s Robinson Earns National Defensive Honors
Houston linebacker Austin Robinson had a breakout game in the Cougars’ 49-36 win at Navy last week, a result that kept Houston atop the American Athletic Conference West Division standings. Robinson, a senior who has been a mainstay on the Cougar defense for three years, registered 21 tackles with 2.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. In addition to his selection as The American’s Defensive Player of the Week, Robinson was tabbed as the national defensive player of the week by both the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America.

20 For 30
UCF’s incredible winning streak has reached 20 games after the Knights’ 37-10 victory at ECU last Saturday as quarterback Darriel Mack stepped in for Heisman Trophy candidate McKenzie Milton, who did not play against the Pirates. The Knights have the longest active winning streak nationally – one that parallels a similarly amazing stretch of offensive production. UCF has scored at least 30 points in every game of the current run.

Millions And Millions ...
The American Athletic Conference continues to deliver big numbers for its national television partners, including 69 games that have had more than one million television and streaming viewers since the start of the 2015 season. Most recently, the Friday matchup between USF and Tulsa on ESPN in Week 7 drew a total viewing audience of 1.17 million.

... With More To Come
This week’s schedule should allow The American to add to its impressive total of games that surpass one million viewers, thanks in large part to two games that are slotted for national broadcast television Saturday. USF will visit Houston at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC, with a reverse mirror on ESPN2, in a game between teams that are a combined 13-1 this season. A prime time matchup on CBS has Navy in action against No. 3 Notre Dame from SDCCU Stadium in San Diego (8 p.m. ET) as the Midshipmen look for their second win against the Fighting Irish in the last three years.

Saturday In The Spotlight
In addition to The American’s two games on national over-the-air networks, the conference has three other games slotted for national television Saturday. UConn renews one of its longstanding rivalries as the Huskies host Massachusetts at noon ET on ESPNU. Cincinnati visits SMU at 3:30 ET on CBS Sports Network in a game that will keep the winner squarely in the hunt for a division title. Tulane visits Tulsa at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU in a West Division matchup,
