PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With just three play dates left on the 2018 American Athletic Conference women’s soccer regular season schedule there are only three spots clinched in the postseason tournament field. The bracket is set to be finalized with the results of matches played on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
No. 18/14 USF clinched at least a share of the regular season championship with its victory this past Sunday and has an opportunity to win outright with a win or tie in its final regular season match.
The Bulls host RV/- UCF on Friday, October 26 at 7 p.m., in a match that will broadcast live on the American Digital Network Plus via Facebook. That game decides the host site for the 2018 American women’s soccer tournament.
The Knights also have a chance to win a share of the regular season crown with a victory over USF. No. 22/18 Memphis can force a three-way tie for the title with a win of its own and a win by UCF.
USF, Memphis and UCF and joined by SMU as teams at least receiving votes in this week’s national polls. The Mustangs are back in the national conversation for the first time since week four and gives The American four teams in the rankings for the first second time this season and first since week one.
The American has had at least two teams receiving votes every week this season and three-or-more in six of the past 10 weeks.
