USF's Ferreira and Tulane's Gutierrez Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 18.
 
Player of the Week
Laura Ferreira * R-Sr. * G/F * USF

Ferreira had a career week as No. 21 USF rose to 4-0 to start the season. Against Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, she scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field with two rebounds, two assists and two steals. The redshirt senior then put forth the best shooting outing of her Bull career on Sunday against Oklahoma, dropping a career-high 34 points on 13-of-20 shooting (.650), including 8-of-11 from beyond the arc. She added four rebounds and dished out six assists as USF downed the Sooners 87-70. For the week, Ferreira averaged 26.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals and shot .625 from the field.
 
Freshman of the Week
Erin Gutierrez * Fr. * G * Tulane
Gutierrez was an all-around threat for Tulane as the Green Wave notched two wins over Power 6 opponents in LSU and Washington. Against the Tigers, she scored nine points on 4-of-7 from the field, dishing out four assists with five steals and grabbing two rebounds. On Saturday, the Pembroke Pines, Fla. native scored eight points on free throws with six boards, four assists and a pair of steals. Gutierrez and Tulane own a 3-0 record for the first time since 2015-16.

Averaged 16.5 points on .538 shooting and 3.5 rebounds with nine assists and four steals in UCF’s 2-0 week, consisting of road wins over Stetson and Mercer

Scored 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting (5-of-7 from three) with four rebounds and seven assists in the Huskies’ win over Vanderbilt on Saturday
 
Raven Johnson * Jr. * G * ECU
Averaged 16.5 points, including 21 points against Kennesaw State, and 6.5 rebounds in ECU’s 2-0 week, adding eight steals, 10 assists and a block
 
Alicia Froling * R-Sr. * F * SMU
Became SMU’s all-time double-doubles leader with 10 points and 10 rebounds against TCU on Sunday; scored 19 points with 13 boards earlier in the week against Alabama
 
Mia Davis * So. * F * Temple
Recorded back-to-back career performances last week, with 22 points at Ole Miss and 28 points at Marist; averaged 25 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc
