Top Ranked Golfers Earn Monthly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference has announced its second Golf Players of the Month Awards for 2018. Tulsa freshman Lorena Tseng takes home her second-consecutive women's honor while SMU's Mac Meissner earns the men's accolade. Both Tseng and Meissner are The American's top-ranked golfers according to Golfstat.com at 48th and 24th, respectively.

Tseng continues to impress in her debut season as she picks up here second-straight Golf Player of the Week honor. She has now finished in the top-10 of her first four collegiate events as she placed ninth at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and followed it up by winning the Las Vegas Showdown. She carded four sub-70 rounds in October, shot a 13-under at Boulder Creek in Las Vegas and led the Hurricane to a second-plash finish at the Showdown, besting 15 other teams.

Men's Golf Player of the Month
Mac Meissner * So. * SMU

Meissner's play this fall has the Mustangs ranked as the No. 5 team in the country. He posted a strong October with a second-place finish at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, a top-10 performance at the in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate and winning rounds in the Bush Cup; a match-play challenge against Army West Point. Meissner posted five of his six tournament rounds at 72-or-better to lead SMU to a team win at Maridoe and a third-place finish in the Royal Oaks.
