UCF, SMU, Cincinnati and USF Net Final Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s final weekly men’s soccer honors for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 4.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Louis Perez * So. * M * UCF

Perez netted the only goal necessary for UCF in the 84th minute against Cincinnati on Friday, giving the Knights a 1-0 victory. His goal came from 25 yards out, finding the net just over the fingertips of the Bearcat goalkeeper. The win sealed a share of the regular season title and top overall seed for UCF, which will host this week’s American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Philip Ponder * Jr. * D * SMU
Ponder repeated as the Defensive Player of the Week after a standout performance to close the regular season for SMU. He was responsible for both Mustang goals against Temple on Friday, giving SMU a 2-1 win and a share of the regular season title as a result. Both of Ponder’s scores came in the second half, with his game-winner finding the net in the 81st minute.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Noah Lawrence * So. * Cincinnati

Lawrence delivered a career-best performance against UCF on Friday night, making 12 saves to keep the No. 9 Knights off the scoreboard until the 84th minute. His save total is the highest single-game mark in The American this season, as the Bearcats permitted just one goal from 26 UCF shots.
 
Rookie of the Week
Emilio Ycaza * So. * M * USF

Ycaza netted the game-winning goal for USF on Friday, as the Bulls closed the regular season with a 2-0 shutout of Memphis. His goal came off a header from a corner kick in the 19th minute. The win helped propel the Bulls to the No. 3 seed for this week’s American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.

Posted his fourth shutout of the season, turning aside both shots he faced against Cincinnati on Friday

Anchored the USF defense to a 2-0 shutout of Memphis on Friday, allowing just one shot on frame for the Tigers

Made four saves as the Golden Hurricane defeated No. 20 UConn 2-1 to close the season on Friday
 
Munashe Raranje * Sr. * M * Tulsa
Netted a penalty kick in the 65th minute against UConn on Friday to tie the match en route to a 2-1 win for Tulsa
               
Yoeri Sijbers * Sr. * D * Tulsa
Helped the Tulsa backline hold UConn to just two shots in the second half on Friday, sealing a 2-1 Golden Hurricane victory
