PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA announced its field for the 2018 Women’s Soccer Championship and both Memphis and USF were selected as host institutions for the First Round. Preliminary round matches are set for Friday and Saturday, November 9-10.
The No. 19/18 nationally-ranked Tigers won their first American Athletic Conference title on Sunday to earn the league’s automatic qualifier and make their seventh NCAA appearance. Memphis (17-3-0) will host No. 22/- Wisconsin (12-3-4), which got an at-large bid, on Friday at 8 p.m. ET, at Mike Rose Stadium. The Tigers and Badgers meet for the first time in each program’s history.
The No. 16/11 Bulls earned an at-large bid for their fourth NCAA trip in the last five years and fifth overall. USF (15-3-0) hosts Albany (15-6-2), the American East champions, on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, at Corbett Stadium. It will be the first meeting between the two schools and Albany’s first match against a ranked opponent in 2018.
NCAA Second and Third rounds continue the following weekend from November 16-18. The four national semifinalists will be determined in the quarterfinals on November 23-24.
The Women's College Cup will then be hosted by WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on November 30 (semifinals) and December 2 (championship game).
