AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE TO BE WELL-REPRESENTED AT 2018 LEARFIELD INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS FORUM

PROVIDENCE, RI –  The American Athletic Conference will be well-represented at the upcoming 2018 Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum, Dec. 5-6, at the Crowne Plaza Square Manhattan in New York City. American Commissioner Mike Aresco; Dr. Renu Khator, chancellor of the University of Houston System and president of the University of Houston; Tulane University president emeritus Dr. Scott Cowen; and University of Cincinnati student-athlete Enna Selmanovic, will be among the featured panelists during the two-day symposium.
 
Aresco, who has been a panelist at previous Learfield Forums, will kick off the event on Wednesday, Dec. 5 with a panel discussion College Sports Business Upfront: Issues, Trends and Opinions That Matter. Moderated by Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand, the panel also will include University of Mississippi athletic director Ross Bjork; University of Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte; Gloria Nevarez, Commissioner of the West Coast Conference; and Jay Williams, a college basketball analyst for ESPN.
 
Dr. Khator, who also serves as chair of The American’s Board of Directors, will be joined on a panel with Dr. Cowen, entitled From the Office of the President: Upholding the Integrity and Ideals of Intercollegiate Athletics. The discussion will be moderated by Glenn Wong, renowned sports law specialist, who currently serves as a professor of sports law at Arizona State University.
 
Selmanovic, currently serves as team manager for the Bearcat swimming and diving team, after injuries curtailed her career, and is a member of the NCAA Division I National Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She will be among six current and former student-athletes to participate in a discussion on The Student-Athlete Experience. The panel will be moderated by Emmy award-winning journalist Jack Ford.
