THE GAME
UCF defeated Baylor 52-42 in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl, giving the American Athletic Conference its first victory in a New Year’s Six bowl … Current members of The American have played in two Fiesta Bowls — UConn fell to Oklahoma in the 2011 game … The 2019 Fiesta Bowl will be the first meeting between UCF and LSU … LSU is playing in the Fiesta Bowl for the first time in program history.

UCF enters this year’s PlayStation Fiesta Bowl on a 25-game winning streak — the longest active streak nationally — as the Knights went 11-0 in the regular season, finished 8-0 in conference play for the third time in The American’s six-year history and won their second straight American Athletic Conference Championship … UCF’s last loss was a 31-13 setback to Arkansas State in the Cure Bowl Dec. 17, 2016, or 746 days prior to this year’s Fiesta Bowl … The Knights scored at least 31 points in all 12 games this year and rank third nationally in total offense at 545.4 yards per game … UCF has scored at least 30 points in 25 straight games, which is the longest streak in FBS since 1936 … UCF is 4-5 all-time in bowl games and 2-1 against SEC teams in the postseason … QB McKenzie Milton, the two-time American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, suffered a season-ending leg injury in the second quarter of the regular-season finale against USF … QB Darriel Mack Jr. made his second career start in The American Championship against Memphis and was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player after he threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for four TDs in the come-from-behind win … The  backfield is led by RB Greg McCrae, who has 1,101 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while explosive RB Adrian Killins Jr. has 698 yards and four TDs …  WR Gabriel Davis leads the team with 756 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 50 catches, while WR Dredrick Snelson has 41 catches for 664 yards and five TDs … The Knights’ defense is led by S Richie Grant, who has team highs of 102 tackles, a league-leading six interceptions and three forced fumbles … DE Titus Davis is an impact player up front with 6.5 sacks and 16.0 tackles for loss … DE Nate Evans has 90 tackles with 9.0 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries … UCF has forced at least one turnover in every game this season and in each of the last 31 games, dating to 2016 … K Matthew Wright is second in The American in kicker scoring (8.7 ppg), while P Mac Loudermilk averages  42.6 yards per punt … Killins has averaged 21.1 yards on 14 kickoff returns, while RB Otis Anderson has averaged 11.9 yards per punt return.

LSU is making its 50th bowl appearance in program history … The Tigers have played in a bowl game in every season of the 21st century … It’s 19-year streak of bowl appearances is the fourth-longest active streak in FBS … LSU has won at least eight games in each of the last 19 seasons as well … LSU’s current bowl streak includes two national championships and four SEC titles … LSU most recently played in the 2018 Citrus Bowl, where the Tigers fell 21-17 to Notre Dame … LSU’s only losses in 2018 were a 27-19 setback to Florida, a 29-0 decision to No. 1 Alabama, and a wild 74-72 seven-overtime shootout against Texas A&M in the season finale … The game against Texas A&M was the highest-scoring and longest game in NCAA FBS history … LSU ranks ninth nationally in pass efficiency defense (106.10) and sixth in turnover margin (1.00) … A key part of the Tigers’ success against the pass has been the play of CB Greedy Williams and CB Kristian Fulton, but both of those players will miss the Fiesta Bowl … Williams has declared for the NFL Draft, while Fulton had season-ending surgery prior to the Fiesta Bowl … LB Devin White, the Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker, is expected to play, however … White and Williams joined S Grant Delpit as NCAA Consensus All-America selections … White has a team-high 115 tackles with 3.0 sacks, 12.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … Delpit is third on the team with 73 tackles with 5.0 sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions … The Tigers average 31.8 points and 389.3 yards on offense … QB Joe Burrow has thrown for exactly 2,500 yards and 12 touchdowns with only four interceptions in 12 games … RB Nick Brossette has rushed for a team-high 922 yards and 14 touchdowns on 211 carries … WR Justin Jefferson has a team-leading 50 receptions, 788 receiving yards and four touchdown catches … Four other players have 20 receptions each … K Cole Tracy, a graduate transfer from Division II Assumption, played his way onto the All-SEC first team after he connected on 25 of 29 field goal attempts … P Zach Von Rosenberg averages 45.6 yards on punts and has 12 kicks of 50 yards or more.
