PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 30.
Player of the Week
Krystal Freeman * So. * F * Tulane
Freeman propelled Tulane to one of the Green Wave’s biggest wins of the season, registering her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Central Michigan in the Miami Holiday Classic. Tulane wrapped up the 68-57 victory over one of last season’s Sweet 16 squads. Against Florida A&M the next day, Freeman added 10 points in 14 minutes, finishing the week averaging 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. For her efforts, she was named the MVP of the Miami Holiday Classic.
Freshman of the Week
Alexa Williamson * Fr. * F * Temple
Williamson rose to the occasion in her first career start, tabulating her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds against La Salle. She converted on 5-of-10 from the field with a steal and an assist to help the Owls rise to 2-1 in Big Five play on the season by a 75-47 score.

Poured in 17 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, to lift UCF to a comeback win over Quinnipiac to close non-conference play; the Knights head into American competition with the most non-conference wins in Division I program history
Taylor Barnes * Jr. * G * Memphis
Registered a career-high 11 assists, tying the single-game high in The American so far this season, to go along with six points, three rebounds, and two steals in Memphis’ 77-56 win over N.C. Central
Emani Mayo * So. * G * Temple
Dropped a season-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting against La Salle, adding six rebounds and six steals in the Owls’ Big Five victory
Erin Gutierrez * Fr. * G * Tulane
Scored a career-high 19 points against Florida A&M while dishing out six assists; for the week, averaged 12 points, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals in Tulane’s 2-0 performance
Alexis Gaulden * Jr. * G * Tulsa
Anchored Tulsa in the Golden Hurricane’s 66-45 win over UTEP, registering a team-high 21 points including four treys, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals
