TAMPA, Fla. - The national spotlight remains on the No. 22/21 USF Bulls as junior
Kitija Laksa was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week for the second time this season, one day after earning ESPNW National Player of the Week honors. Laksa averaged 33 points per game in the Bulls' 2-0 week.
Laksa set a new career-high Sunday against No. 13 Ohio State when she matched the American Athletic Conference single game scoring record with 41 points. The junior from Riga, Latvia is the only player in NCAA Division I with two 40-point performances this season.
In two wins, Laksa shot 25-for-44 from the field and finished 56.8 percent and 13-for-24 on three-point attempts for 54.2 percent.
Laksa was named the USBWA National Player of the Week earlier this season after scoring 40-points against Southern (Dec. 15) and is one of 10 finalists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale award, recognizing the top shooting guard in the country.
The Bulls return to the court on Wednesday, hosting ECU for a conference matchup live on the American Digital Network.
