PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 18.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tate McClellan * RS-So. * IF * ECU
McClellan led ECU to a 4-1 week at their own Pirates Clash tournament with a .457 batting average (7-for-15) and .556 on-base percentage. The redshirt sophomore recorded 16 putouts and turned in an error-free weekend. Throughout the course of the tournament, she recorded a total seven hits, three RBI, three doubles and two runs.

Trystan Melancon * So. * P * Houston
Melancon went 1-1 in two appearances at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge last week. She finished with a 1.75 earned run average and a .179 opponent average in eight innings pitched. She allowed just five hits, three walks and three runs through games played against No. 15 Ole Miss and Big Ten foe Rutgers. The sophomore held No. 15 Ole Miss scoreless in the Cougars' 6-0 win over the Rebels.

Recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage last week in four appearances, had a run in three of the four games and three RBI.
Molly Smith * P * Sr. * Memphis
Finished with a 0.62 earned run average in three appearances, had 11 strikeouts in the 11-0 victory over Jackson State last week
Ryleigh Buck * 1B * So. * Wichita State
Hit .467 over the week, produced seven hits, three runs, two doubles and one RBI to help the Shockers finish the weekend 3-2
