Wichita State Named NABC Team of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has named Wichita State its NCAA Division I National Team of the Week for Feb. 12-18.

The Shockers moved to within a game of first place in the American Athletic Conference standings last week with wins over Temple and fifth-ranked Cincinnati. WSU overcame a 14-point halftime deficit on Thursday to defeat Temple, 93-86. On Sunday, the Shockers snapped Cincinnati's nation-best 39-game home winning streak and claimed their first true road win over a top-five opponent in 54 years.

Wichita State is the second American Athletic Conference program to be honored by the NABC this year, joining SMU.

Other winners this week were Clayton State (D-II), Ohio Wesleyan (D-III), Warner (Fla.) (NAIA) and Palm Beach State College (NJCAA).
