PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Memphis junior Madison Thomas was named the American Women's Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after posting a top-five finish at the Moon Golf Invitational.
Thomas finished in a tie for fifth among a field of 74, including three nationally ranked teams. Thomas fired two rounds under par at the tournament, including a career-best 69 in the opening round.
With rounds of 69 and 71 on Sunday and Monday, Thomas entered the final round with the individual lead before finishing with a 77 (69-71-77 – 217) to record her second top-five finish of the year.
Thomas’ round helped Memphis finish ahead of nationally-ranked Louisville and Kennesaw State.
Memphis will next compete at the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C., March 5-6.
