PROVIDENCE, R.I. – USF senior Claudio Correa was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week on Wednesday after finishing runner-up at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
Correa helped lead No. 25 USF to a third-place finish in the 16-team field, where the Bulls finished ahead of three ranked opponents.
On the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course, Correa fired three rounds under par, opening with a 65 before consecutive rounds of 69 to come in 7-under par (65-69-69 – 203), one shot out of a playoff with Missouri’s Hayden Buckley, the 14
th-ranked player in the country.
Shooting 5-under par as a team, the third-place finish (278-281-276 – 835) for the Bulls was the program’s fourth top-three finish of the year.
USF will be back in action on March 4-6, competing at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
