Highlights
The American went 5-0 on Tuesday night, as Cincinnati, Houston and Memphis each posted a walk-off win. The Knights and the Cougars each extended their winning streaks, while the Bearcats, Tigers and Green Wave snapped last weekend's setback to start the week on a hight note. The American’s baseball teams will play 31 more games this week.
- Cincinnati and Memphis got back on track with walk-off wins. The Bearcats had lost twice via a walk off before outfielder Treg Haberkorn hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to give Cincinnati a 5-3 win over Northern Kentucky. Designated hitter Kyle Ouellette lined a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the ninth to give Memphis a 3-2 win over Southeast Missouri State. The Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak with the walk-off win. Memphis starting pitcher Danny Denz tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four batters.
- Third baseman Jared Triolo doubled down the third base line to give Houston its walk-off win in the ninth inning, defeating Texas Southern 4-3. He ended the night with two hits and a RBI, as the Cougars improve their winning streak to three in a row. Houston will take on three ranked opponenets this weekend when it hosts No. 7 Kentucky, No. 21 Mississippi State and No. 5 Vanderbilt.
- UCF won 6-1 at Bethune-Cookman--a 2017 NCAA Regional team--to capture its fourth-straight win. Second baseman Matthew Mika had two RBIs and went 3-for-5 at the plate, while starter Chandler Robertson tossed 5.2 innings, allowing one hit and fanning six batters.
- Tulane used 13 hits on the way to a 7-1 win over Lamar. The Green Wave’s pitching staff held the Cardinals to one hit, as starter Josh Bates threw five shutout innings with no hits to pick up the win.
