“I absolutely love the guys we brought in here. I'm excited about what we were able to bring in up front on both sides of the ball. Thrilled with what we were able to add as far as size, girth and strength up front. I think the additions in this recruiting cycle in the secondary are critical for us in developing some young guys who have play-making abilities. On the offensive side, we were also able to add some speed and play-making ability on the outside”

The quality of young men that we have been able to attract to our program is at an all-time high.”

“Our staff did a great job during the early signing period when we signed 24 guys. At the end of the day, it’s all about character and all about fit for your program. When you have a staff that knows what everyone is looking for, it comes out in character and athletic ability. When you get good players in the program, who get good grades and who understand what you’re trying to do, you can continue to move the program forward.”

“I’m excited about the class. When I was hired here, we had about 16 commits, so we had to decide how we wanted to handle the early signing period. I didn’t think it was fair to them to say that you needed to sign with a coaching staff that you didn’t know. So we told them that we were going to take the time to get to them and let them get to know us and see how it played out. The good thing about recruiting is that it’s a relationship process. The main thing that we needed to address was that we needed to get bigger, and we were able to do that.”

We're tough, we're physical, we work really hard and the kids that we bring in understand that coming in so there is less de-recruitment phase. We know what our brand is, our players live our brand every day and these kids that we sign buy into it and want to be a part of it.”

“One of the good things about the early signing period was that we knew exactly what we had left to fill, so we could address those needs more specifically. We were able to really pinpoint from both a positional and athletic standpoint what we were looking for in those particular spots. It gave us the opportunity to go out and really hone in on the guys that we needed to help fill out our football roster. It was very beneficial in that sense. We were able to really address some needs as we look towards next year. I feel that we've done a good job of putting together a great signing class”
- Head Coach Philip Montgomery
